@jaykuo thank you for the article, excellent research. Americans are under attack by right wing extremists intentionally attempting to create constant threat from within - standard fascist political strategy. This is terrorism. And we need to treat it like that.
@w7voa The Guardian has a great rundown of the last four or so statements Cruz has issued - clearly has a template ready to go for the next one. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/may/07/texas-mall-shooting-ted-cruz-response-backlash?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
‘Spare us your prayers’: Ted Cruz faces backlash after Texas mall shooting kills eight

Critics say the Republican senator should advocate for meaningful gun control rather than invoke prayer after mass, deadly violence

The Guardian
@w7voa Right wing media, & increasingly, right wing politicians, encourage violence. Creating conditions of constant threat from within is textbook fascist political strategy.

In a functioning democratic system and healthy political culture, anyone uttering such deranged nonsense would be shunned and ostracized, a party elevating them would not be considered a viable option by anyone but an extremist fringe.

The U.S., however, evidently has neither. 1/

@w7voa @oliverdarcy Various newspapers persist in writing about Musk using his own terms: Musk took a Twitter poll: in fact his ‘polls’ aren’t: he a) polls only his followers & b) uses his own framing. Musk’s ‘poll’ as to whether he should step down as CEO was a) meaningless anyway - Musk will always be in unilateral control; & b) was always the plan. I just wish we’d stop covering right wing propaganda outlets using their own framing.
