Hm. Are there any consequences for the aiding PC if things still go wrong anyway? Is there a limit on how many people are allowed to aid the initial PC in trouble?

No, that's not it. I see why that came to your mind, but I'm talking about... something a little more structured, like LEGACY: LIFE AMONG THE RUINS... but more involved that L:LATR handles starting-world-building...
