Today I found out that most brands selling PC fans no longer sell individual coloured LEDs in favour of RGB.

Support for this is generally via Windows-only software, and whether it'll remember without Windows and their software running seems to depend on the product.

I guess it matches industry trends to over-complicate everything. Why have an LED fan you just plug in, when you can download our totally-not-spyware software?

I know this is overblown, but I'm annoyed.

With how successful Mastodon instances are, I wonder how many other big companies are one huge slip-up away from being replaced by open-source software.

And maybe how much better off we'd all be if we decided to give them a fair chance instead of sticking to the big services we're used to.

I've got minor (can I call it that) bone surgery in about a month and a half and not really sure how to feel.

How will the scar heal? How nervous will I be on the day? Should I ask for anxiety meds?

I've seen talk of CLI clients for Mastodon.
What I want to see instead is a client that mounts a FUSE filesystem, and each file is its own post. You get a directory for your Home, Local and Federated, updating when you refresh the listing.

If only I could find a good FUSE library to mess about with in JS. :P
