Scripting News: Saturday, March 15, 2025

Dave Winer, OG blogger, podcaster, developed first apps in many categories. Old enough to know better. It's even worse than it appears.

Scripting News

I still have $16.96 in Skype credit (from, I'd guess, 2008—yes I just checked) and I appreciate this nugget buried in the closedown notice: "After May 5, 2025, the Skype Dial Pad will be available to remaining paid users from the Skype web portal and within Teams." Think they'll still ask me to log in and spend a few cents every six months?

I've been using Due more or less since it came out—most recently an hour ago—and I've never really thought about *not* using it. It's pure in purpose and easy to use, never over-engineered or redesigned away from its core. Fun to see its developer reminiscing and glad my little purchase meant something. /cc @gruber @due https://www.dueapp.com/blog/three-sentence-review.html
The Three-Sentence Review

This year marks the 14th anniversary of Due. But this wouldn't have been possible without a three-sentence review.

Hey @nickheer congratulations on winning the New Yorker caption contest! Why aren't you bragging about this more?
Beehiiv doesn't support RSS by default—it's an opt-in—and as a result some of the newsletter migrations I follow in Feedly are going to fall off my radar, perhaps for good. Why not have it enabled for everyone?
