Apparently this requires restating: A professional conference is not a dating playground #IKK Latest episode: Gala Dinner of the International Cartel Conference in Berlin. No, it is not acceptable to drop references to kinky preferences during a conference dinner. It is not acceptable to ask for a date at a professional networking event - even less so in an explicit way, even less so when the other person is stuck on a seat, even less so for a representative of a public authority (because the other person has to ponder implications for her employer when reacting in the way that the approach deserves). But it applies in general. It generally feels (and is) less safe in places with a highly skewed gender ratio. Men in suits are not less likely to cross boundaries. Women always need to be prepared to deal with that. Economics and competition law are particularly bad disciplines (male-dominated and conservative), but the topic deserves more attention across the board, also from men. This is about what it means to be decent, not even a feminist. My solidarity with all fellow women for whom this is also just a fact of life. Let’s talk about this. And feel free to reach out also directly if you want to discuss anything related to this. | 15 comments on LinkedIn
Why #GDPR has so little effect on #BigTech. Case 34,276:
"The Luxembourg courts have annulled a €746 million fine leveled against #Amazon by the country’s privacy regulator.
The court said that the data protection authority (#CNPD) failed to properly analyze Amazon’s “degree of fault” relating to certain #privacy breaches.
The court did confirm “the essence of the violations of the GDPR” that were identified by the CNPD, but noted that “these have now been resolved.” 😭
