If you had told me a year ago that I’d be a person who enjoys a morning run to start my day, I would have laughed at you.

This is ridiculous. Running sucks. Why do I like it?!

“Oh! My hometown of Springfield, IL is in the news!”

“Oh… My hometown of Springfield, IL is in the news….”

I really like the word “glockenspiel.” Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
@vmstan I’ve always wanted to be the head of a religion! I’d be a dope Pope! But I guess I’d be more like a deity here.
I haven’t checked on my Neopets in a few….decades. They’re probably fine, right?

@nixCraft I could’ve easily gone back to custom ROM flashing or 3rd party OSes but I’m not that same young tinkerer with all the time and no money anymore. I want something that just works where I don’t need to spend an hour explaining to my friends “yeah, you need to download this app to talk to just me.” It sucks to have to do all this just to be social but I’m too tired to fight it now.

But also imagine my surprise when Apple announced RCS a month or so after I got an iPhone.

@nixCraft I had already stopped using Chrome years prior so when I heard that feature was going to be in Chrome, I gave it no mind. Then I updated my Pixel and saw it was integrated into my phone…

I felt pretty done then. A bit silly to have a phone controlled by a company with a financial incentive to take everything they know about you and sell it to the highest bidder. Not that everyone isn’t doing that already but it’s hard to beat Google.

@nixCraft What kept me for a long time was a general distaste of how Apple locks things down plus wanting more control over my phone. I used to be a real sticker for system wide EQ, and having rooted apps.

As time went on, I cared less about those things and more about just using my phone to communicate with others, and sadly here in the US, you cannot beat an iPhone for that.

But the main thing that pushed me over the edge was Google’s “ad topics” feature.

Even Staten Island is somewhat interestingly named. What’s a staten?! I don’t know!

But really? Long Island? C’mon, try harder.

I don’t understand how every borough in New York has such an interesting name and then there’s Long Island which is just….a long island.
