The dreaded and much anticipated triple-demic is finally here—for the first time RSV, flu, and COVID-19 are rising together. And it’s not looking pretty. Here is the current state of affairs. Overall Every Friday the CDC updates their “influenza-like illness (ILI)” data. This is a database in which providers tally patients that presented with ILI—a fever and a cough and/or sore throat—at their office. So these numbers include everything (flu, RSV, COVID-19, etc.) and are a general indication of the climate of respiratory of health in the United States.
The Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathy are in the process of adopting rules to restrict access to gender-affirming healthcare. Our 9-year-old son came home from school & said that some boys at recess offered to play with him if 'he hugged & kissed a girl.'
He responded to them, "No, that's inappropriate," & told us he didn't mind not being able to play with those boys after all. Afterwards his teacher shared she was happy he stood up to peer pressure.
Y'all—it's never too early to teach boys about consent and boundaries. Have the conversation. Then have it again. And again. Boys will be the boys we teach them to be.
