Big Lorehold isn't something I usually do, but this one certainly did the trick. First picks were Stirring Hopesinger and Improvisation Capstone. The former did nothing but eat removal, the latter won me at least three games, if not all four? My best flip was Unsubtle Mockery into Heated Argument to effectively wrath my opponent's board. Regardless of my initial hit, following Capstone up with the Lorecaster to rebuy a removal spell was usually lights out.
Rough day at the draft tables. Trainwrecked my way trough two 0-2s before finally assembling this ruthless pile of synergistic bears.
Melancholic Poet(s) + Leech Collector did A LOT of work, with Inkling Mascots flying in there as needed.
Had a nice Witherbloom deck curl up and die to flood in the first two games. Ran back another draft for revenge, got there.
Managed to cast Lightning Bolt twice, although one was a game I technically had already won (my third spell was a Swordsmith'd Monstrous Rage) and the other was my loss to not drawing white mana until far too late. Practiced Offense remains a stupid card, and double Swordsmith did a lot of work.
Back-to-back Pick 2 Trophies!
W vs Witherbloom w/white
W vs Prismari w/Arcane Omens (maybe Soup, didn't see any other non-UR cards but did see UG lands)
L vs Lorehold w/black (maybe full Mardu)
W vs Silverquill mirror
W vs Quandrix w/black
Moment of Reckoning stole at least two games, would have claimed a third had my final opp not fumbled their Potioner's Trove/Withering Curse interaction. MoR was in hand for the immediate rebuild but not needed.
Chalk up another Pick Two 4-1 for Prismari Aggro.
W vs. Lorehold
W vs Witherbloom + white
W vs. Prismari mirror
L vs Soup
W vs. Witherbloom
"Homesickness + 3-4 Opus triggers to swing for 10+" won two games, surprise mid-combat Opus triggers off Muse's Encouragement got one, and the fourth was a clean tempo win. Flooded out vs. the Soup deck, but their Elemental Mascot bought them a ton of time; 4 Toughness is a lot!
Scrappy little Sultai Quandrix deck gets there. Opening picks were said dragon and Dismember, and never really wavered from that plan. Echocasting Symposium was in Pack 2 but never made an appearance. Studious First-Year showed up in my opening hand enough times to be MVP, ramping me directly into my curve and fixing colors in probably 3 out of 5 games. Game 1 I lost to no black mana, and in Game 5 it was correctly killed before I could Rampant Growth.
Felt like drafting Silverquill after opening Informed Inkwright, wound up Lorehold but still had a bit of repartee action. Having three ways to get the Inkwright back once they inevitably get rid of it was fun, although Lorehold Charm could have easily been a 17th land instead. The team pump won me one game and every other time it was discarded to something.
Clean Pick Two 4-0 with Bor— uh, Lorehold Aggro. Get blockers out of the way and swing in with an ever-growing army of dorks, that's the RW Way.
Won Game 4 via Rubble Rouser pinging my opponent out from 6 life after they killed all my fliers and held the ground with a trio of Noxious Newts. Whatever it takes...
Prismari Aggro 4-0. Got to storm off with Molten-Core Maestro and Wisdom of Ages, domed someone out from 9 with Crackle (because they opted to not kill my Paintmage), copied Horses... all kinds of fun. (Petrified Hamlet was an error; I thought it was the Wizard land. Never drew it, but still.)
