I don't make any distinction between racism, misogyny, homophobia, or transphobia. Bigotry is bigotry and it mostly comes from the same people, grossly speaking. I refuse to be played against some other group of vulnerable and marginalized people because that's exactly what they want. My rights, my peace, my safety, and my comfort aren't worth more than someone else's.

The Verge is doubling down and it's a good one to read and share 👌

Especially to your cis folks who are still somehow arguing that it's possible to watch something that’s directly funding a worldwide fascist crusade against trans people without being a part of the problem.

I've been head down for the past few months this year, working on a major overhaul of Fern, the note-taking, journal, knowledge-management shell script that I made over a year ago. Super excited to be able to share the new project, which is inching closer to v1.

It's now a beautiful Terminal UI (TUI), written in Go, leveraging the amazing BubbleTea, Glamour libraries. I wanted to make something that could be powerful like
#Obsidian or #Logseq while keeping the footprint low as possible. Binary is around 28MB and it runs on that much Memory at fresh start.

Still a bit of a ways off to declaring v1.0 ready, but I'd love love love if anyone wants to be a beta tester of v0.9.0(main). Any feedback, feature ideas that fit your workflow, or bug reports would be hugely helpful.

If you can't beta test that's okay, just share this with friends who might enjoy it. Boosts are most welcome! Thank you!

I’m not trans. As far as I know, my kids aren’t at the moment. Nobody in my family is. None of my good friends are. I don’t prescribe medication for gender affirming care. I don’t specifically treat folks for gender dysphoria. So why do I give a fuck?

You don’t punch down. There’s no transgender machine producing trans judiciary and trans politicians and trans PACs to come for my cisgender. There are trans folks being discriminated against, outed, beaten, jailed, and killed. I hate bullies.

I am very glad to hear that Kenneth is doing better now, and have so much respect for his decision to write this post. In the end, people are always more important than code - always.

Open Source Gave Me Everything Until I Had Nothing Left to Give

I thought I was having a spiritual awakening. I was having a psychiatric emergency. I was at a tech conference in Sweden when it started. I hadn't slept in...

In something you don't see everyday, Apple gave the FBI the real name and email address of one of its customers using Apple's 'Hide My Email' feature. This lets you generate random email addresses to protect your privacy https://www.404media.co/apple-gives-fbi-a-users-real-name-hidden-behind-hide-my-email-feature/
Apple Gives FBI a User’s Real Name Hidden Behind ’Hide My Email’ Feature

The move isn't surprising, but shows what data is available to authorities when paying Apple customers use the Hide My Email feature.

Years ago, I commissioned a great artist to make and sell a shirt based on a dumb joke. I loved this shirt. Now, it's on sale as "Vintage". Time to turn to dust, I guess.
