Dans de nombreux environnements aux ressources limitées, les victimes de traumatismes n’ont même pas accès aux soins orthopédiques de base. Les hôpitaux ne disposent pas du personnel formé et de l’infrastructure nécessaire, en termes d’équipement et de matériel. En coopération avec des ONG et des départements de santé, Volker et sa petite équipe proposent des ateliers de formation et un soutien en matière d’équipement pour améliorer l’accès aux soins orthopédiques de base.
After decades of neo-colonial paternalism, the progress made by African countries in education, health care and living standards is being undone. In Congo, the CAR, Sudan warlords and unscrupulous governments are fighting for zones of influence and mineral resources. UN peacekeeping missions seem powerless, NGOs are obstructed. Now the European democracies must represent a common policy, sanction violations of rules in international humanitarian law, give budget support and push for UN reforms.
