This is a formal portrait of the surviving Apollo astronauts. That's Buzz Aldrin in the silver tux. I have to imagine the conversation went like this:

ALDRIN: Ok, let's get started
PHOTOGRAPH: Mr. Aldrin, you are aware that this is a formal portrait?
BA: I'm not an idiot son.
PG: Well your suit-
BA: Son, have you been to the moon?
PG: No sir.
BA: Well I have. The moon. The motherlovin' moon. In a tin can run by a calculator and powered by a can of sterno. (1/)

This is a fascinating article about animal cognition but I am especially blown away by the idea of spiderwebs being “an extension of the spider’s cognitive system” because I’m reading the sci-fi novel “Children of Time” right now and that is how the spiders communicate in the story.

Great how much of ex tech-Twitter is now active on Mastodon. Like, the real peeps—the builders and enthusiasts—in all their glorious diversity, not the 💸💰 peeps who generally seemed to have revealed themselves to be trolls.
Mastodon has a vibe of "kids arriving at summer camp" at the moment. Everybody is keen to make new friends (while feeling slightly overwhelmed). Love it.
Really enjoying digital life here on the 🐘 as I'm settling in. Still trying to figure out my curation strategy. Right now it's nice to follow some accounts like @donmelton who are big and eclectic boosters, to get the lay of the land.
One more for good measure.
There are few things I like to photograph more than the fog rolling in through the coastal range.
I've been going back and finally editing some #Oregon sunrise photos from last spring.
