Education researcher and statistician. I'm a proud dad and enjoy both remote and trailer camping, cycling, building/fixing interesting things, and radio. I still suck at CW but it's my favourite mode. IC-7300, Youkits HB1B, and FT3DR are the objects of personal photon warbling.

@va3db indeed! The lack of a network connection was one of the biggest missing pieces, and given the popularity of that rx antenna kit, it seemed Icom was really listening to what people need.
The luddites weren’t technophobes, they were the high-skilled technologists of their time, angry that automation tech in the brutal new factories made the rich richer, and replaced their skilled loom work with violent, blighted factories full of low-wage unskilled workers (often children at the end of a whip). @N9DRB oh! I’m trying to read befor coffee. Sorry, I haven’t played with that, but I would still check the docs for some sort of client keep alive interval. When a phone changes networks, it changes IP address, and the proxy server won’t be able to send it any messages until the phone checks in. Just a hunch, good luck!
@N9DRB sorry, I meant what VPN software. They each have some sort of keep-alive setting for clients.
@N9DRB what VPN? It might need some sort of “keep alive” packet setup so that the VPS can keep reaching the phones as they move around networks.

I did a thing.

I’ve had a long-standing love of stickers on laptops. I know a lot of you do too! So I built a site to highlight them. At Hope next week I’ll take as many pics (with permission) of the best stickered laptops I can find and post them.

It’s always sad when a laptop gets upgraded, the old one tossed, and that sticker canvas is lost. I’m trying to preserve it.

Please submit pics of your laptops so I can “seed the tip jar,” as it were.

@M0YNG I guess there’s also publishing posts directly to activitypub as notes, like writefreely does? I think there are a few options for that.
@M0YNG @cosstab this is great. I was going to do exactly this before and never hunkered down to complete it. I’m thinking now, I may use gopher/gemini for writing off the cuff, as a kind of drafting space, and then only promote more polished things to the web version. I don’t know yet if I like that idea.

Huzzah! My website can once again be accessed as a #TOR Hidden Service.

I'm unsure anyone would want to, but it can be done once more.

Also via HTTP (no S) for anyone using packet radio.

And Gopher, and Gemini

Are there any other protocols I could / should add?

Aside, I need to work out why you can't log into mastodon.radio over tor
