"A dad who lost his sense of taste and smell for years after catching Covid says both have been restored thanks to a specially developed chewing gum trial at the University of Nottingham in the UK."

"A 12-week study found that using super-strength flavoured chewing gums (spicy, minty, sour, and sweet) helps rebuild brain connections linked to taste and smell. Following the trial, 67% of participants reported improved smell and 83% saw improvements in taste."

Something very cool - this office block in Newcastle is due to be demolished, so a bunch of artists got access and used the whole thing as a canvas. Six floors of art installations, with DJs scattered around.

It was Berlin as f**k. Seeing offices twisted like this was a weird mental flip.

"If your car is even relatively new, it's probably involved. The consulting firm McKinsey found 50% of cars on the road in 2021 had internet connections and predicted the number will rise to 95% by 2030. If your car is hooked up to the internet, privacy is almost certainly an issue you need to care about"

RTÉ’s boycott of this year’s #Eurovision is complete. RTÉ will not broadcast any of this week’s shows.

The decision comes as RTÉ continues its boycott of the contest over Israel’s participation.

Instead RTÉ2 will broadcast the classic #FatherTed episode A Song for Europe during the usual Eurovision timeslot.

The episode sees Ted and Dougal enter a ‘Eurosong’ competition with their unforgettable entry, My Lovely Horse. 😅🤣👏👏

Although trained in physics, I worked in the computing industry with pride and purpose for over 40 years. And now I can do nothing but sit back and watch it destroy itself for no valid reason beyond hubris (if I'm being charitable).

Ineffable sadness watching something I once loved deliberately lose its soul.

If you are in your late thirties to mid-forties right now, there is a good chance that you have spent most of your life in a cycle of making some sort of home on the internet only to have it crumble beneath you like chalk and having to start over.

You still deserve privacy, even if you:

  • don't use Linux
  • use big social media sites
  • aren't "techie"
  • are just an average computer user
