Learning networking is one huge slippery slope...

First you're reading books, and then you're messing around in virtual environments. Before you know it, you're purchasing equipment for your home network. Scary enough, I know I'm only just getting started.

Just restarted my laptop... lo and behold, my wallpaper (that I have purposefully never changed in the year plus that I've owned this laptop) just magically was something else.

That was an unpleasant and unwelcome shocker, which makes me loathe WIN11 just a little bit more.

Definitely time to stop using Telegram. The privacy claims (and comparisons to Signal) were somewhat dubious to begin with, but that's totally out of the door now.

Hey, if you're the type of person that can start typing a reply to an argument, then decide that actually it's not worth bothering with and delete the reply, I want you to know:

You're doing fantastic, and you should be proud of yourself. I wish more people had that kind of restraint.

I like Parallels for Mac, but I don't appreciate their refusal to ship security updates after a year unless I "upgrade" to their yearly subscription model.

Parallels' model seems to be that with every new version of macOS you should have to pay them again, or run a product with known vulnerabilities.

I'm really sick of how everything has to be a continuing revenue stream for software companies, and it steams me that we still don't have any basic rights or guarantees defined as buyers and users of software.

There are some struggles, worthy causes, that you will never see come to fruition in your lifetime. That does not make them any less worthwhile. Indeed, to work toward a righteous victory for those who come after you, whom you will never meet, is glory unsurpassed.

This is really important.

"The most important point of the UAW strike imo is that unions gave benefits & compensation up when the Big 3 were filing for bankruptcy protection on the promise they would be returned, when they were profitable again. They did not keep their promise. Instead, they paid themselves more." - @LALegault

I can't wait for the #Pixel8Pro and for preorders to open up. I am not looking for the new Tensor processor to be more powerful, and I don't even need it to have better battery life. But I am looking for the performance to be smoother and the phone to run cooler. Higher max screen brightness will be a welcome improvement. Hopefully the rumors about an ultrasonic FPR for the Pro are true, but that's not critical. I would also love to have actually fast charging, but that's definitely not in the cards.

As for #Android14, I am looking forward to the custom wallpapers, the predictive back gesture, and the improved share sheet.

I know my list is kind of unique based on all the comments I read, but those are all features that will be of great use to me.

Also, I'm planning to get the #PixelWatch2. It surely won't be the perfect or "best" smart watch, but it will do everything I need, and I like the look.
