The only place I see Coltsfoot, Tussilago farfara, a single specimen a couple of weeks earlier than usual.
I think we have here
Common Field Speedwell, Veronica persica, though it lacks the smaller white lower lip of that species so #WildFlowerID.
Barren Strawberry, Potentilla sterilis; always early at this location in an ancient holloway.
Lesser Stitchwort, Stellaria graminea, insanely early in my experience hereabouts.
While I was keeping an eye out for #NewYearPlantHunt items, I also noted this apple tree which grows wild in a field hedge.
It always bears a good crop, and I saw not only that it still bore some fruit that hadn't dropped, but it also had a bough of apparently fresh leaves.
A very slim #NYPH2023 #NewYearPlantHunt selection for #WildFlowerHour this year.
Severe frosts before Christmas and then a lot of rain seems to have done for greater variety - I've recorded 20+ in previous nyphs.
Anyway:
Common Field Speedwell, Veronica persica
Shepherd's Purse, Capella bursa-pastoris
Probably Common Ragwort, Senecio spp.
Daisy, Bellis perennis
Dandelion, Taraxacum spp.
Gorse, Ulex europaeus.
The slimmest of pickings yesterday, after a week of hard frosts.
Small Scabious, Scabiosa columbaria
Gorse, Ulex europaeus
Dandelion, Taraxacum spp
