Between 1900 and early 1950s, African Americans were socially restricted to use the Missouri Avenue Beach Area. Since many vacationing Black families arrived with chicken-laden hampers, the strip became affectionately named Chicken Bone Beach by other African-Americans.

Qualified immunity for police officers needs to be abolished! If they thought they could lose their homes and savings to a lawsuit, their behaviors would change immediately. I once dated an officer who patrolled the neighborhood that I grew up in when I lived in Chicago. He told me that they were told that they were better in the people in the neighborhood. He also told me that instead of protecting and serving the people in the neighborhood, they were told to look at it as going to war. 😡
