Father of two adult children, husband for 30 years. Former logistics dude for a Fortune 100 company. United Methodist. I like whiskey, and I’ve seen ghosts. Poet. Bad lawn keeper. North Carolinian.
I came to Mastodon after abandoning Twitter. My experience has been It’s really not an alternative…just a more serene and less engaging echo chamber. I think I can carry on without either platform. Adios.
I hate most modern country music. Not all. I even have an alt-country playlist. I enjoy live bluegrass. That being said, what I really hate is people who try to convince me that I should listen to country. I’m a southerner who has spent a lifetime distancing myself from redneckdom. Nothing about beardy guys in hats singing with an exaggerated twang about trucks, beer and deer stands appeals to me. I’m neck deep in a culture that eats that shit up. I don’t need any extra.
And of course, my wife and son are Braves fans…and I don’t wish to rain on their parades. My late grandfather loved the Braves. So…no baseball for me. #baseball
I think living where there is no home team is part of it. The Braves are the closest and they are 5 hours away. And I actively root against other Atlanta teams in other leagues. I would rather not care at all than support an Atlanta team. #baseball
I used to love baseball. Today, I enjoy an occasional minor league game. But … I‘ve lost all interest in MLB and that would make 10 year old me very disappointed. #baseball

Just stumbled on what I thought was a news program but was actually “Intouch Ministries” program on “The Twitter Files”. A load of pro-Musk, antivax, anti-Biden horse shit. No wonder people are still dying. If this is the propaganda mainstream Evangelicals are swallowing, time to take the remote away from grandma. And maybe revoke certain ministries tax-free status. Jesus was not mentioned. #propaganda #twitter #evangelical

I'm older so I remember things. Everything you see happening today should be understood this way:

The top tax rate used to be 90% in order to prevent the really rich from destroying democracy.

The corporate tax rate was 50% because corporations exist to serve society.

AND the inheritance tax was really high to keep family dynasties from gaining power over us.
