It seems to me that we now have three different major contenders for what the spirit of #web3 will be remembered as: #Crypto, #AI, and #federation/the #Fediverse.
These are shockingly varied views of the heart and soul of technology: crypto wants to remove all the guardrails, AI wants to put the guardrails into a black box, and the Fediverse wants to distribute the guardrails out to the various groups who are most protected by them.
Thankfully, crypto's star is already on the decline; and as AI companies are being taken to court and forced to be more transparent about the way they operate over the next decade or so, the Fediverse has an opportunity to present federation to the public as the most transparent, most safe, most open, most free solution.
This might seem like an overly-optimistic viewpoint; but remember, it's just an opportunity. We (as a community) have to take it.

The sooner the better for all this so less talent & financial resources are used to promote Ponzi schemes that don't solve problems.
