One of the closing ideas of this piece cuts through the 'is AI good or bad?' debate for me: it's about power. AI systems today are deployed to weaken us all in relation to their owners, the same for the web as a platform, as for knowledge workers, as for creative professionals https://anildash.com/2026/03/27/endgame-open-web/

Loving Tom Scott's new series. It is quite a skill to make almost any topic interesting through storytelling. The craft and personality that comes across in the first episode, visiting England's last bell foundry in Leicestershire, is beautiful. https://nebula.tv/videos/tomscott-i-helped-break-a-142yearold-bell-and-thats-okay
Tom Scott: England β€” I helped break a 142-year-old bell, and that's okay.

In Leicestershire, at the John Taylor Bell Foundry, there's fire, sledgehammer swinging, and metal hotter than a volcano. Also, several questions about cheese.

Personal computing in the ’90s and early ’00s moved at a rapid pace. At least, that’s how I remember it. School curricula, not so much. Around 2003, I was being taught about the merits of dot-matrix printers, how to choose between a command line interface and graphical user interface, and the intricacies of network topologies. At the same time, I made a hobby of keeping some of my school’s ageing Macintoshes running, replacing their clock batteries.

Did Mechelen just open a contemporary gallery of graffiti art? The newly accessible abandoned swamp hotel in the Vrijbroekpark is packed with amazing art! #2800love #art #graffiti
