🎉I am now the Senior Staff Writer covering security, privacy, and software platforms for Wirecutter!🎉

I'll be covering a lot of what I always have (security issues that affect real people, VPNs, password managers, security keys, etc) as well as Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. It's a big beat but I'm excited to tackle it! 💪

My article on viewing and photographing solar eclipses finally published on PCMag. I'm just sorry there wasn't more lead time in advance of next month's annular solar eclipse. I'm glad they saw fit to include my tongue-in-cheek "Umbraphile Scale." #solareclipse #astronomy #astrophotography #eclipse https://www.pcmag.com/articles/how-to-watch-and-photograph-a-solar-eclipse

Re: the x-bird site: According to Snopes, the xeet has been yeeted. Now, may the x go the way of the Seven Evil Exes that Scott Pilgrim had to defeat. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/xeet-twitter/
Are Tweets Now Called 'Xeets'?

The claim spread as Twitter owner Elon Musk began to rebrand the social media platform as “X.”

Now the bird site has become the X site. (Dude really seems to be obsessed with that letter.) I’ve started my #YeetTheXeet campaign.
Now the Doge-man is calling to "defund" NPR after the bird site grossly mischaracterized the organization as "Government-funded media."--any federal funding that it gets accounts for less than 1% of its operating budget. I guess I can thank Elon for motivating me to finally help fund my local NPR station, funded in part by "...listeners like you."
We're going back! Tonight's waxing gibbous Moon (April 3, 2023), taken with a tripod-mounted Sony A7r with a Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS lens set to 300mm #moon #moonshot #gibbous #A7r #astronomy
I finally saw and imaged Comet ZTF from the Custer Observatory, Southold (Long Island) New York Friday/Saturday night, just after midnight. I couldn't see it with my unaided eyes but it showed up well in binoculars; I photographed it with a tripod-mounted Sony A7r. #comet #astrophotography
Today's Google Doodle, Celebrating Bubble Tea, is both instructive and fun.

Merry Perihelion! Today, the Earth is at its closest point to the Sun in its yearly orbit, which is ironic for us in the midst of northern-hemisphere winter. (Actually, today the temperature reached a balmy 61F/16C here in NYC.) #PerihelionDay #perihelion
