πŸŽ‰β€‹I am now the Senior Staff Writer covering security, privacy, and software platforms for Wirecutter!πŸŽ‰β€‹

I'll be covering a lot of what I always have (security issues that affect real people, VPNs, password managers, security keys, etc) as well as Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. It's a big beat but I'm excited to tackle it! πŸ’ͺ

After 11 years πŸ˜±β€‹ at @PCMag it's extremely weird to say all this (and part of why I've been putting off posting anything about it).

I'm grateful to everyone at Mag, and I miss all of my colleagues. Since I am here and being Extremely Indulgent ℒ️ I'm gonna do that thing where I call people out some people specifically.

Firstly, Sean Carroll took a risk hiring me back in 2012 and helped me build something that actually resembles a career. So much of what I have is thanks to him.

@neiljrubenking and @fahmiwrite were my infosec mentors; they have always been endlessly patient with my (numerous) questions and enormously generous with their time.

My teammates @jilleduffy, Jeff WIlson, Ben Moore, and @kimkey, all of whom showed me there was so much more to learn about our craft everyday. And especially @mikemuch who shared a bench with me eight years. πŸ’— you all.
In case you didn't know already, PCMag has some of the best journalists around: Matt Buzzi, Zackery Cuevas, Jason Cohen, @tonyjhoffman, @jimfisher, Michael Kan, @ChandraSteele, and so many others I am neglecting. You should read their work!
Of course, none of this would be necessary if Whit hadn't recommended me for a job after a chance meeting at the Burp Castle. Cheers! 🍻

Finally, I'm so grateful to everyone at the Ziff Davis Creators Guild #union. We fought together to build a strong union in the face of incredible obstaclesβ€”including a global pandemic.

I'm so proud to have worked with all of you, especially Anna Iovine and @jordanwminor both of whom have probably spent enough hours on Zoom calls with me to last a lifetime. Solidarity ✊ πŸ”₯

@maxeddy All true! Congratulations!
@saschasegan Your parting advice really helped me feel comfortable with this decision, so: thank you!
@maxeddy @ardent_handsaw reviews of hardware should cover security/firmware upgrade policies! and congratulations :)
@maxeddy congrats dude. Looking forward to reading your work in my wirecutter newsletters!
