and the brain-genius typed "no one would do anything without a profit motive!" and hit send on a button rendered by an open source front end framework firing off an event handled by an open source programming language that sends a packet in a format conforming to an open specification over a protocol developed at universities with public funding until it reaches a web server running an open source operating system that files the hot take away into an open source database for safe keeping

General Electric developed a lifeboat for spacecraft in the early 1960s called MOOSE, which was basically:

-A plastic bag
-A can of foam
-A tiny rocket motor
-A parachute
-A rubber shield

You had to leave your spacecraft in your spacesuit, climb inside the plastic bag, fill it with foam, point yourself at the Earth and fire the motor 😬

The rubber and foam were supposed to stop you burning to death. We will never know if it would have worked.

Massachusetts is the best state because it's the only state with a sneeze in its name.

Oh, it also has great LGBTQIA+ protections, a lesbian governor, both urban and rural queers (and rural liberals/lefties), great job opportunities, and great health care and education.

It's why I want Massachusetts to be affordable for everyone: people deserve access to good places where they can thrive.

Weird that bolsonaro supporters tried the same thing trump supporters did, literally the same week as the 2 year anniversary of said trumpist attempt, which also just so happens to be a week a half after bolsonaro refused to perform his duties of presidential succession & instead went to visit trump.

Yeah. So "weird."

Birdsite, but I couldn't say it better myself

131 billionaires more than doubled their net worth during the pandemic and at the same time, close to 97 million people — more than the population of any European nation — were pushed into extreme poverty .

This is all about choices made by the (mostly) men who legislate and direct the institutions that control the money.

I'm thinking very carefully about this. A choice was made to allow little children to continue shivering in the dark and go hungry.

If you’re outraged about Adobe sending your pictures off their servers (you should be), please know other vendors do this too. That horse has already bolted.

Eg Microsoft Edge automatically sends your key presses in Edge to MS - enabled by default https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/how-to-disable-writing-assistance-via-group-policy/td-p/3648422
