Completely blown away by the Amy Sherald show at the Baltimore Museum of Art. I left feeling hopeful and inspired.

If you have a chance, you must see her work in person.

Lucked into a ticket for Built to Spill at the Ottobar. By my count, this was my 16th time seeing them. A lot of variety in the setlist. Highlights: I Would Hurt a Fly, Else, The Weather (Doug solo!)

Alabama Shakes at The Anthem in DC was a blast. Brittany Howard has such magnetism.

Budos Band as the opening act made for a great evening even if the low end of the sound was a bit muddy at times.

Finally got around to seeing Dark Star Orchestra at Merriweather last night. It surpassed my expectation.

I knew the ‘85 dead show which has some nice primal tunes like Cryptical Envelopment which was awesome.

Sturgill melting faces at Merriweather.

Julius Rodriguez and his amazing band just tore the roof off of the Creative Alliance. Deadly combo of serious chops and high energy. Do not sleep on these guys.

Jeff Parker ETA IVtet killing it tonight. Each jam is a journey.

Caught Reid Anderson’s new electronic group, The Slow Reactors at the Creative Alliance. Had no expectations going in and found it interesting.

My primary criticism is some of the instrumentation felt like it was stepping on each other’s toes. This could have been dynamics but the guitar and violin were in the same tonal range most of the set.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performing “Radiohead X Brahms”. It worked surprisingly well and the crowd loved it.
Yasmin Williams at the Creative Alliance was a joy to experience. Her playing is both contemplative and fun. Do check her out if she’s in your area.
