Back at it again with Skirt Go Spinny Sunday! Late though it is. 😅

This time, it’s a special costume edition for Halloween! Ellie put a lot of effort into it (and so did I), and I hope it shows! As for the costume, since Ellie is very much about making her big flowy skirt fly, I figured it was about time to have her reference one of the OGs of flying skirts, Marilyn Monroe.

I wanted to play with the notion of Ellie making the costume as accurate as possible while she’s in-character, and then letting her own style show when she goes out-of-character. There are some fun tricks to facilitate that. I let her keep the makeup when out-of-character though, because I want to experiment with makeup looks for her anyways.

There is one more pair of scenes I wanted to do, but I decided to let myself off the hook for now since it’s Skirt Go Spinny Sunday, not Skirt Go Windy Sunday! (And dForce wind SUCKS!!)

It feels bad to post what are essentially rehashes of the first ever Skirt Go Spinny Sunday renders. 😅 But I did reserve myself the right to do that when I first started this, in case unexpected busy-ness and bad executive function team up to beat my ass.

Fortunately, the nature of this kind of art makes it easier to do rehashes that almost look meaningfully different! Use new t-shirt and skirt textures–which I fortunately had already made!–move the cameras a bit, then wait for the Iray renders to make sure they look fine. …Then tweak, re-render, and wait another 10 minutes if they don’t. >.>;;

Even though I ended up doing what is mostly a retextured rehash, part of this outfit did take a bit of effort, so I hope you still enjoy it! 💖

It’s Skirt Go Spinny Sunday, y’all! After a few little refinements to the costume, figuring out where I wanted to put her and how I wanted to tweak the environment, and then several hours of struggling with Iray and the denoiser to not smudge the heck out of the sparkly skirt ring, it’s finally here!

One of these days, I will post a render in the afternoon and not late at night. Today is not that day. #DazStudio
