Back at it again with Skirt Go Spinny Sunday! Late though it is. 😅

This time, it’s a special costume edition for Halloween! Ellie put a lot of effort into it (and so did I), and I hope it shows! As for the costume, since Ellie is very much about making her big flowy skirt fly, I figured it was about time to have her reference one of the OGs of flying skirts, Marilyn Monroe.

I wanted to play with the notion of Ellie making the costume as accurate as possible while she’s in-character, and then letting her own style show when she goes out-of-character. There are some fun tricks to facilitate that. I let her keep the makeup when out-of-character though, because I want to experiment with makeup looks for her anyways.

There is one more pair of scenes I wanted to do, but I decided to let myself off the hook for now since it’s Skirt Go Spinny Sunday, not Skirt Go Windy Sunday! (And dForce wind SUCKS!!)

so i’m gonna take a moment to bitch here since i’m pretty sure there are no calibur personalities in the fediverse. real talk, i’m not sure why i bother entering SC6 netplay brackets. i jokingly say “i’m here so that one person doesn’t have to go 0-2” but that means i’m the person who goes 0-2 and gets to feel bad about it.

the game is miserable to play at mid level because it’s a series of hyper-aggressive knowledge checks where you either know the one correct answer or you pick the four wrong answers and die even harder for thinking you could possibly be allowed to escape the aggressor’s pressure. to be honest, i am really really scared that tekken 8 is going to be like this.

and the community just… only seems to give a shit about the best players? i’ve never escaped mid level because i don’t like studying and the game’s hyper-aggressive design rubs me the wrong way. nobody runs events that are for mid or low level players. the only place mid-level or lower players can really have a good time is in-person tournaments because there are more people. even lower level players can pick off the people who entered for shits and giggles. but when it comes to online events, you don’t enter those for shits and giggles. especially not when the netplay is subpar like SC6’s. the only people entering netplay tournaments are the people who really care about the game.

it’s all hyper stratified. you’re either hanging with the best or you’re nobody. i much prefer playing SC6 in-person with the small group of people who still care about it here.
