Probably not a hot take, but I personally think Rush's sound got better and better with each album. I personally love the stuff from the 90s onward.
So much great stuff in that period, and it almost leans more into alternative rock, while still feeling very progressive.
Counterparts is such a great Rush record top to bottom.
I can hear what Ty Tabor of King's X means when he says he got a lot of technique from listening to Lifeson's parts on Rush albums.
Interesting to hear what Rush was doing at the same time that KX was getting off the ground.
