or in other words, launch migration. Bye, mastodon.cloud, and thanks for all the fish.

@Alon Well, Mastodon has a super-nice API so in principle it ought to be pretty simple. But I poked around looking for Mastodon bulk uploader software and don’t see anything.

Realistically, I kinda doubt that having the whole shebang here in Mastodon would be that helpful, nobody could possibly manage to scroll all the way back.

Hey everyone, this is to alert that I will be switching instances later this evening and become @timbray

If you’re following me, you *should* be dragged along and see no real change. But sometimes things break. So if I seem to go silent (and that’s not an improvement) you might have to re-follow.

If I’m following you, I’m using Masto’s nice export/import and that should take care of itself too.

All this may take a day or two to complete, they tell me.

See you on the other side.

Except, ha-ha, while it works in the Masto compose window, it doesn't work in my feed display. *Sigh*. The future, unevenly distributed as usual.

TIL about ZWJ emoji.

For example, 👩‍🎨 is three Unicode characters. Woman + ZWJ + Artist Palette.

@OliverC

Look, I understand blockchain. And while I suppose quite a few miner and exchange coins are held in hardware wallets, the proportion of retail Btc holders who use them rounds to zero. I made quite a lot of money buying & selling Btc 2013-17 and never ran any wallet.

So for the mass of retail investors, also known as the Greater Fool bagholders being robbed by the Ponzi, Btc is de facto centralized.

@OliverC So, decentralized in theory but not in practice.

I have such issues with Christians who call other Christians "not real Christians" b/c they're harmful--it's gaslighting to the victims of Christianity's brutal history.

@nelson BTW have been really enjoying your Starlink posts. It's impossible not to have complicated feelings about that operation.
