Want to use Emoji in your paper, but don't want to make your contributors use LuaLaTeX?

I wrote up how you can quickly generate small .pdf vector images for any emoji, so that you can just add those to your git repository and use \includegraphics{smile.pdf} in plain pdfLaTeX instead.

Using Emoji in (pdf)LaTex | Thom Wiggers

I recently wanted to use Emoji in a paper, but I did not want to force my contributors into using LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX (in which you can just use fancy fonts).

@pqcloe Will this finally allow me to negotiate how many rounds of Keccak I want?
Hmm, a certain website (online jeweler Glamira) seems to have been compromised, as I've just received spam on <uniquemailforthem>@<mydomain> ...

I will be publicly defending my PhD thesis titled Post-Quantum TLS on January 9 at 14:30 precisely.

If you'd like to read the thesis, attend the defense, or watch the livestream, visit my website for more information: https://thomwiggers.nl/talk/phd-defense/

@kora I also maintain the liboqs crate ;-)
@kora they’re the same implementation; in theory this one is slightly lower weight but I think the oqs wrapper is a bit nicer in ergonomics.

Long overdue, but I finally updated my series of pqcrypto crates, which package PQClean's implementations of PQ cryptography for Rust.

This includes (breaking) pqcrypto-kyber and pqcrypto-dilithium updates to the draft standard!

WHSmith, your stroopwafels are crap.

Fortunately, a bad stroopwafel is still a stroopwafel

@jd7h also on the radio, btw
