Want to use Emoji in your paper, but don't want to make your contributors use LuaLaTeX?

I wrote up how you can quickly generate small .pdf vector images for any emoji, so that you can just add those to your git repository and use \includegraphics{smile.pdf} in plain pdfLaTeX instead.

Using Emoji in (pdf)LaTex | Thom Wiggers

I recently wanted to use Emoji in a paper, but I did not want to force my contributors into using LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX (in which you can just use fancy fonts).

Hmm, a certain website (online jeweler Glamira) seems to have been compromised, as I've just received spam on <uniquemailforthem>@<mydomain> ...

Long overdue, but I finally updated my series of pqcrypto crates, which package PQClean's implementations of PQ cryptography for Rust.

This includes (breaking) pqcrypto-kyber and pqcrypto-dilithium updates to the draft standard!

WHSmith, your stroopwafels are crap.

Fortunately, a bad stroopwafel is still a stroopwafel

I built a thing: compare the 40 submissions to the second NIST post-quantum signatures standardization project using this nifty tool:

GCC 14 is still in development, but it has a wonderful new feature in its static analyzer (-fanalyzer).

It can now draw beautiful Unicode diagrams showing exactly how you went out-of-bounds.

See https://inbox.sourceware.org/gcc-patches/[email protected]/ too.

Thank you to the wonderful David Malcolm for implementing this - who also does a tonne of work with mentoring for GCC's GSoC programme, and working on docs to help new people get into GCC: https://gcc-newbies-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html.

After over a decade spent creating Signal, Moxie has departed to focus on new efforts. As the founder of Signal, the work he did and the organization he built are the reason Signal exists. We are infinitely grateful. He remains a friend and a core part of the Signal legacy ❤️🙏
