A new macOS Tahoe feature flying under the radar is you can now search with Spotlight by: Folder + File
❶ Start with /
❷ Type a bit of the folder name, like "Report"
❸ Select from the results, like "Daily Reports" (Return to select first result)
❹ Type some of the file name or contents, like "sales"

I wrote a bit of a brain dump of my experiences with agentic coding. I feel threatened, I'm unsure about the future but I absolutely believe it's going to stay: https://chris.eidhof.nl/post/agentic-coding/

PROGRAMMING TIP
avoid repeating the same 4 lines of code twice by writing 270 lines of beautiful, abstract, generic code
It’s that time of year, so just a reminder: mentioning iOS 18 (or any of the new OSes) in your app release notes is explicitly allowed by the developer program license agreement. If your reviewer rejects your update for this, tell them to review the “Confidentiality” section.

I can't believe I just now learned this in Xcode

You can select some text, cut it with ⌘X, select a folder in the navigator and paste with ⌘V, and it puts it in a new file

And all this time I've kept all my code in one giant file

Output-oriented stakeholders are not accustomed to using leading indicators to attribute impact to any specific change in the product.

The semantic environment within their organizations frames all work as valuable *if it produces any outputs*. The success criteria for every project really is "if we ship" because that's what's rewarded.

The obvious consequence is that anything delaying those outputs (such as user research or design process) is seen as wasteful.

For the 40th Anniversary of the Mac... here are 40 years of All-In-One Macs' base SKU memory capacities.

It's sometimes tricky to tell which SKUs were still on sale at what time, so this is just based on "entry level" product introductions.

Memory increased quickly until the Mac Plus. 1986 to 1990 were all about decreasing the entry Mac price. Then we get a pretty straight logarithmic line until Tim Cook became CEO and there has only been a single increase since.

Be honest, can you read an analog clock?

[If you are older than the sample size do not vote but instead boost.]
