Orange beaked black bird on a poorly pruned tree. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford sharp lenses but for now I'll have to accept that I'm as poor as a rat and content myself with blurry pictures.

The yellow one was designed by Adolfo Gil Lezama and built in 1924. Apparently it was one of the first buildings in Bilbao that had a structure made of concrete instead of wood. Nowadays it houses a hotel.

The grey one was built six years later, in 1930, and the design was by Federico Ugalde Echevarria. As far as I know it remains a residential building.

Train tracks at Abando station, in Bilbao. In a few years this railway station designed by Alfonso Fungairiño in 1948 will be partially demolished to accommodate high speed trains. Tracks will be buried underground, housing built on top, and Bilbao will lose another bit of its recent history.

The menu was [not all of them pictured]: • Starters: Iberian ham with baked olive oil bread; Assorted croquettes; Puff pastry with prawns and crispy codfish; Tomato salad with pickled white tuna. • Main course: Txipirones (baby squid in its ink) with white rice; Grilled entrecôte with baked potato and roasted piquillo peppers. • Dessert: Vanilla ice cream with liqueur, cream and ground almonds.
