I don’t want taxes cuts, I want more and better services. Who cares how little you pay in taxes if your schools are underfunded, your infrastructure is crumbling, and we can’t take care of our fellow citizens. #politics

I made the mistake of having an opinion on the birdsite last night and spent over an hour fending off vitriol and personal insults. This community is helping to give me a fresh perspective on toxicity and how to be more accepting, good job toot friends.

My in-laws are purging ahead of their move to Florida and my father-in-law has been incredibly generous with his tools. I am now the proud owner of a Craftsman router w/ router table and a Ryobi 10” drill press. My workshop is really coming together. #woodworking #diy #makeallthethings

Really loving the fact that, despite following literally no one, I still feel like I'm a part of the Mastodon community. Really refreshing to use something that feels more like a community than a service.

Debating whether I should spend the next hour or so pretending I don't have adult responsibilities to attend to by trawling Mastodon or by playing Doom & Destiny.

Finding people here seems really easy if they are well-known or have a unique name that you know. Seems a little more difficult if you know someone in person but aren’t sure what their user name might be. I’m sure there are security concerns but searching by contacts for email addresses would be pretty convenient.

I’m still not 100% sure how to find people across multiple servers on Mastodon, but Twitter is pissing me off enough for me to spend the time to figure it out.

So this is a thing, but no one I know uses it so who knows if I’ll keep using it. I worry that it’s just going to be the next Identi.ca and drift off into obscurity.
