Just got excited to have a pretzel dog after a long day. Picked it up out of the microwave only for the hot dog to thwunk to the floor and bounce.

That's kinda how the day's gone. But tomorrow there's a haircut.

Thinking about it, CoreSimulator getting corrupted after an Xcode update was maybe the universe's way of telling me to go take a long walk tonight while it was still warm out.

Also might be the first time(?) I've had to disable SIP. Anyway, it's all working now, I got 6.5 miles in, *and* I got ice cream. So, uh...could be a lot worse.

We've gone from severe thunderstorms to some wildly loud wind and into snowstorms overnight.

Used the "You're inside today" to submit an update to PolitiCall that features my first Supabase integration *and* my first custom image-host.

I got an unfortunate number of crash reports this week. While investigating, turns out it was all down to my Wikipedia image requests getting flagged as bot traffic. Rather than try and contend with the "I'm a human" of it all, did new things!

Our Chicago office is our global headquarters. When you enter the space, you’re greeted with a Showcase Wall that highlights our team, our anniversaries, monthly MVPs, awards, and maybe even a welcome message.

It’s *a lot* to manage. Spent the winter noodling on Showcased—one iOS/macOS app that generates the graphics and stores all the details we need.

Fun challenge to myself to start from the Mac and then scale to iOS.

According to a TikTok video three or so Waymo vehicles were getting dropped in the West Loop today. I don't know if that's for testing or a photo shoot or what, but uh, what are the odds when they start driving Chicago they wind up stuck on Lower Wacker.

Just a pack of driverless cars, circling the depths, forgotten about for years. And then in 50 years they return, Terminator-ed. Self-aware, self-sufficient.

A colleague asked if we could get a Winter Games leaderboard going for the office—have folks assigned to a set of countries at random.

Got a little site spun up for it. Deploy it with a domain we've got internally. It looks GREAT.

And then our VPN was like "HUMAN MIRTH DETECTED" and forced it into a remote browser quarantine. Strips the fonts, strips the emoji, renders the whole thing as though you're looking through a CRT that's had potato smashed on it 😭

I went to a hockey game last night. Still kind of giggling at how the camera operators cut to *anything* else the moment anyone went to kiss someone on the jumbotron.

No one wants to be responsible for the next Coldplaying.

Have I been slower to ship some stuff so far this year? Yes. Is it because I got busy at work? Also yes.
