Whoever designed this Kindle — and put the power button on the bottom — is not a believer in the load-bearing pinky.
@caseyliss The power button on the Kobo Libra Colour is the exact opposite problem— it is impossible to press, even when you want to
Nor do they use exercise equipment that has a ledge to put your ebook on.

@caseyliss I remember hearing Jason Snell talk about that a while back and was like “how bad can it be?”

Anyways I now have a Kobo Libra Color.

@caseyliss I really don’t understand why it’s not on the top right corner
@caseyliss reading this on my phone and my eyes immediately went to my pinky and sure enough, load bearing pinky! 🤣
@caseyliss hot take: Kindles are more comfortable to use if you rotate the UI to landscape
@caseyliss i got a popsocket for mine and it's been SO necessary
@caseyliss Get @marcoarment. to print you one of these https://www.printables.com/model/109906-amazon-kindle-grip - it has made holding my kindle much more comfortabe.

@caseyliss I know it’ll never happen but I want Apple to make a nice e-reader
@BenRiceM @caseyliss I just want the folks at reMarkable to believe that it could be an excellent e reader instead of a decent one
@caseyliss Their biggest design mistake for me was eliminating the page forward/page back buttons. They were perfectly placed to rest my thumb on page forward and never have to move it to turn pages. I'm still using my 5 year old Oasis and will until it bites the dust. When it does, I'll be looking at Kindle alternatives unless they've brought back a model with buttons.
@caseyliss i complain about this literally every single time i read on my Kindle (which is my main way of reading.) it's infuriating that they placed the power button exactly where i put my pinky.

@caseyliss Yes yes yes exactly OMG! I thought it was just me.

I like my Kindle naked, but I found that putting one of those back covers on it adds just enough extra plastic around the power button to make it harder to press accidentally.

Also: Jailbreaking it and using the KOReader has been a joy compared to the stock Kindle reader. Recommended! (@snazzyq did the same in a recent video about the latest Trmnl advancements)

@caseyliss I am 100% with you. Thought I was the only one bothered by this.
@caseyliss At this point I'm not even sure how you are meant to hold it
@caseyliss that thing loves turning itself on inside bags too
