This is a backup account for in case of downtime.

Cats!!!

I really like the favorite/boost/bookmark distinctions. I also like the fact that here you have to go back to the original post to talk--my brain says lovechild of Twitter and Pillowfort. Also, accountability, woohoo!

So. In my view.

Favorite: HEY YOU this was a COOL THING.

Boost: HEY EVERYONE this was a COOL THING.

Bookmark: HEY ME don't forget about this COOL THING.

Reply: OMG WHAT A COOL THING can we TALK about it?

This is some of the coolest innovation I've seen. As a wheelchair user this has the potential to revolutionize how disabled people travel making flights more accessible and greatly reducing (if not outright eliminating) the vast majority of damage done to mobility equipment by airlines every day. #AirTravel #Airlines #Innovation #Disability #DisabilityInclusion #Travel #FlyingWhileDisabled

Welcome on board

For wheelchair users, travelling by plane can often be a challenging and undignified process. An award-winning invention that allows passengers to take their own chair on board is aiming to change that and make flying a more accessible and inclusive experience.

It has been far too long since I sent a picture of my #fedicats

The Times is reporting that all 4 MPs on Johnson’s resignation honours list - Nadine Dorries, Alister Jack, Nigel Adams, Alok Sharma - are all planning to “defer” their peerages until the next election

But this is totally unprecedented - how can you be both a member of the Commons *and* the Lords at the same time?

If Sunak lets them do this, but the King objects, well - we’ll have ourselves a little constitutional crisis 🚨

I've been experimenting with different clients, and I think I have it down to either the Mastodon app (the one just called Mastodon, from the folks behind the main server and codebase) or Tusky.

Generally I'm finding that the Mastodon app is much nicer, except I can't find a way to show image descriptions, whereas Tusky is a bit clunky, but shows them in a drawer at the bottom of the image view.

I don't want to boost posts without a description, so does anyone have fixes or recommendations?

@Bec My core belief with this is, part of respecting folks is respecting their autonomy to engage with content on their own terms.
Note to new Mastodon people: when you upload a photo here, please click the squiggly line on the upload to give a description of the photo for #VisuallyImpaired people. #Accessibility #Disability
Now that i've used it for a few days, it seems Just Obvious that medium to large organisations/corporations/institutes should have their own Mastodon server. If you want to toot as the spokespersons for %FUNDER% or whatever, the most natural authenticity is to toot _from that domain_.
