"How can I tell you. How can I convince you, brother,
sister that your life is in danger: That everyday you wake
up alive, relatively happy, and a functioning human being,
you are committing a rebellious act. You as an alive and
functioning queer are a revolutionary.
There is nothing on this planet that validates, protects
or encourages your existence. It is a miracle you are
standing here reading these words. "

 hello again

BOOKS & BONE is a librarians-and-necromancy fantasy with small town charm in a city of the dead.

It is currently up for funding on #kickstarter as I can't afford to publish it on my own. If you're able, I'd really appreciate your help!

It's a story about frantic research, the boundaries of magic, and the love of home, however strange.

It's mildly spooky and very warm. I hope you'll like it!

The pentragram on the floor was smudged, the candles unlit. A demon appeared. "Hello, are you free?" it said.
The man looked up from his book and smiled. "Hi! How are you?"
"Still bound to find you a friend."
"And you come alone, again. Hard, isn't it? No matter. Tea?"
"Thanks!"

Existentially Distressing Plant Facts by EXRook

A zine of things I wish I didn't know about plants

This bitey looking thing is the flower of hydnora africana, a parasitic plant.

Its monstrous flowers are the only part which ever grows above the soil. They're pollinated by carrion flies, if that gives you an idea what they smell like.

This plant beast has no chlorophyll and gets all its energy by tapping into the roots of trees and shrubs. In some parts of Southern Africa, they're notorious for cutting through underground cables.

Parasitic plants are so... fleshy looking.

was just reminded that today is the 12th anniversary of Boston Police thinking that lite brite Mooninites were bombs when actually they were just viral marketing for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie and the people that were hired to place them around the city held a press conference afterward and insisted on only discussing hairstyles of the 1970s. can't believe it's been so long already.
I know that links being blue is Traditional, and links being clearly marked as different from non-linked text is necessary, but when the link color and the text color are too different, and the links are also meant to be words in a sentence you should be reading, that creates another problem.

Why don't more social media sites allow users to personalize how our view of what we're reading looks? Livejournal did (does) this. Dreamwidth, too. It's great! Tumblr just changed its default contrast levels for better accessibility, and while I trust they actually researched this and it's good for some - other people find the new settings painful. YAY!!

I hate how tags here and Twitter are a dramatically different color than the main text. Breaks reading flow, makes it harder to read overall.

Finished!! A3 (42x30cm) 300gm hot press paper, archival quality inks and watercolours. Took about 20 hours.

For sale! Grab the signed original for $200 USD (which includes worldwide shipping). Message me to buy!
