We're back with a new piece on media, truth and... well, bullshit.

With this article, we inaugurate a new section within The Debugger, "The Hyperreal", where we use a bit of philosophy to try to make sense of these times we live in. Hope you enjoy, and let us know what you think!

Truth in the age of bullshit (or why nobody cares about fact-checking)

Harry Frankfurt characterised bullshit as indifference towards truth. In a world where the flashes of the spectacle blur the distinction between truth and falsity, do we have a chance of not being swept along by the content we consume?

Sometimes you just have to tidy things up in the backroom. And that's what we've been doing! We changed our host to @hey

Now The Debugger:

More updates soon, and thanks to the Magic Pages team for the awesome support!

EDITORIAL | "If we had to be more specific and point to the moment in history in which all of this (algorithmic, discretionary manipulation, the poles of truth and falsity diluted into a total bullshit-entropy) became explicit, it would not be 2020, or 2025. That would be 2016. [...] It would be beautiful if, ten years later, 2026 becomes the year in which we finally move forward, and reclaim control over our politics - and minds. Let's work for it, together".

Editorial | The 10th Anniversary

European leaders start to realise that digital, cognitive dependency is a vulnerability. Truth is, we've been in this situation since 2016, to say the least.

The Debugger

We wish you all a happy 2026!

We want to thank you for sharing this time together. And, of course, more soon!

#ChatControl is lurking in the back. We said it already, and we say it again. This initiative is disastrous from every point of view. From ineffective protection by scrapping fundamental rights to increased technological and political vassalage.

Chat Control: the EU's biggest mass surveillance initiative ever

The EU is once more debating the chat control initiative, a mass surveillance law that would rely on a US company to scan every piece of communication of (almost) all EU citizens by October 2025.

The European Commission green-lights the creation of the #DigitalCommons EDIC:

"The aim of this organisation, integrated by France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, is to enable EU member states to build open-source alternatives to much of the proprietary - mostly US - software used by companies and governments across the EU."

In politics, intention is important. Responsibility is even more. And mass surveillance can never be the answer.

Is #Palantir taking over #Europe ? We examine some of the relations between the US corporation and several European entities.

"We are not talking just about purchasing a service, but about handing highly sensitive data to companies linked with foreign intelligence and defence agencies, which are naturally not concerned about Europe's interests - when not in direct opposition to them."

Is Palantir taking over Europe?

The increasing adoption and dependence from Palantir is at odds with Europe's ambitions of digital sovereignty.
