@cirriustech @joxean I know :) but us chatting is a nice opportunity for others to spectate and draw their own conclusions - thanks for the chat Graham
I’m the annoying guy that makes you think about what you’re doing, and why you’re doing it.
@cirriustech @joxean I don’t think my concerns are assuming anything other than the obvious, a group of CTI focused people are precious about a hashtag being tainted by context they don’t welcome, and you guys are honouring that, fundamentally that’s a principle crossed from the get-go all hashtags are equal but some are more equal 😊
@cirriustech @joxean it is infosec you’re absolutely right, a parent of CTI - I guess this is where we agree to disagree on the approach ?
@cirriustech @joxean so not complaints but qualified concern, and proposals 🥸
@cirriustech @joxean a few toots back my immediate idea was to have a hashtag schema, it requires no code change https://infosec.exchange/@thecontractor/109355045591003820 and could be habit forming for context in a sensible way (and easy to filter) that’s the immediate thought while I’m not saying it’s _the_ solution it did accompany my concerns in the thread you’re included on :p mostly I’m just a bit sus of investing my time here if we’re already getting to prohibiting things that aren’t bad, just inconvenient to a subset of peoples rss feed

@[email protected] @cirriustech What Mastodon may want to adopt is a hashtag schema for example area : subset : misc #threatintel #jobs #germany could imply there's a job in Germany needing a threat intel person over #threatintel #cve123 #ovh etc...

@cirriustech @joxean I’m just joshing here, unless you come after all the hashtags, then I’d feel sad for donating 🤹
@cirriustech @joxean mmm it feels like parenting, and absent of long term strategy. The effort to police this hashtag and others as they creep in (thin end of the wedge) the term threatIntel is too broad to apply exclusivity too and has me nervous that the language being used (thanks for your concern, we will have broadcast blah blah feels like community isn’t being included … is that fair to say ?
@joxean @cirriustech tactically hashtag schema, strategically (code change) logger ... I think we've fixed everything ! - dude I better get your email before we're kicked out of here too
@joxean @cirriustech because policing individual hashtags is gonna burn staff and user out quickly
