Tomorrow is my first entyvio infusion for #Crohns. Never done a biological because cost and good grief the appointments. But here I am

Twitter was transformed into a vital tool the Black community used to amplify its collective voice to protest injustice, organize, commiserate, and spread its unique brand of tastemaking cool, humor and wit. In 2019, I wrote about how for Black people, quitting Twitter was never an easy cut-and-dry proposition as it is for those far more privileged. Revisiting this piece now is very bittersweet. #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter

Why Quitting Twitter Is Not So Clear Cut For African-Americans And Other Marginalized Groups

Why Quitting Twitter Is Not So Clear Cut For African-Americans And Other Marginalized Groups. I have read many think pieces lately from writers -mainly white- who have decided Twitter is just too much of a clusterf*ck for them to….

Dear white people:

Whenever you see someone who is #BIPOC speak up about the lack of #diversity on Mastodon... You don't need to give your opinion, you don't need to correct them about their own experience, you don't need to highlight the wonders of the fediverse. Just don't.

Instead, please listen to what they say, and remember that reach here is mediated by boosts, so instead of telling them to invite more people over—or to become Mastodon leaders of their community...

... Just boost them

Make a conscious effort to follow people who are #BIPOC and boost their posts.

Boost posts by non-white marginalized communities so you can help their voices reach farther.

Based on the true life story of Prudence Crandall, a Quaker woman who thought girls, whatever their skin color, were worth educating, the #graphicnovel is a pure wonder. The art is delicate and poetic and the story explores every aspect of the horror of the time.

I still see posts with people wanting no politics. So I will leave a reminder:

1. Politics = how we make decisions about living together in society.

2. Not participating in politics = endorsing the status quo.

3. Refusing to participate in politics is a privilege. It is also a decision to abandon those in a more vulnerable position.

You might want to abstain and that's fine.
But someone has to combat injustice, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and anti-LGBTQ hate.

My favourite photos of all time are the ones of my older brother with birthday cake. Once the happy birthday song starts up, there is no containing his joy, and that joy is LOUD. It’s brilliant. Happy birthday, Wade ❤️🥹
