Greg, my brother in Christ, you had people in your state eating out of dumpsters last week because you can’t keep the lights on. You have much more important things to worry about in Texas

Greg Abbott tells state agencies to stop considering diversity in hiring

In a memo written Monday and obtained by The Texas Tribune, Abbott’s chief of staff Gardner Pate told agency leaders that using diversity, equity and inclusion policies in hiring violates federal and state employment laws, and hiring cannot be ...

@frenemymine yes. You can also download a list of the people you were following on the old instance as a .csv in your account settings, and then upload the .csv on the new instance. Unfortunately it won’t let you do this with followers or posts, so you just lose all of them
@gfitzp from what I've found, you have to go into your profile, download your data into a .csv, and upload into your new profile. But you can't save posts and all of your old followers have to find you

I just set up on a new server, as mstdn.party is evidently having troubles and other servers are muting it.

Follow me at [email protected] - I’ll be starting over there.

This is super annoying

It sounds like my instance of mstdn dot party has shit the bed

(the admin has disappeared and trolls are taking over)

and I’m going to have to migrate soon, so if you see a weird friend request, it’s me.

If anyone can recommend a new instance to go to, I’d appreciate it. Preferably a stable one because if I have to do this again I’m probably going to delete the app

F-22 Safely Shoots Down Chinese Spy Balloon Off South Carolina Coast

A U.S. Air Force fighter safely shot down a Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III said in a written statement.

Everytime you say “eww I hate Texas and Florida, we’re better off without them” you’re turning your back on millions of marginalized people: POC, queer, disabled, poor, and telling them they don’t deserve to live in the same country as you.

And before you say “they should just move”: that’s what I did. It cost me thousands of dollars. It’s not something anyone can just do (nor should they have to) and it’s incredibly privileged to assume they can

Finally: I guarantee you that every time something bad happens in your blue state, there are conservatives all over the country doing the same thing you are.

They’re saying “well, it’s their fault for living there” or “it’s their fault for voting Democrat”.

So just know that “they deserve it for living in a red state” isn’t the brilliant take you think it is

Texas has several big blue cities where most of the people live, and the state government does everything they can to gerrymander them to hell and back. They make it extremely difficult to vote.

But I get it, it makes you feel good to just say “people in the south deserve every bad thing that happens to them” instead of demanding that your boy Joe Biden lift a single goddamn finger to codify our voting rights
