You're putting words in my mouth. "We're" not saying that, you are.
My point is that a TV is perceived differently by most consumers, who do not categorize it as "the same risk" as other devices. It's a perception problem. That's why IOT is so dangerous: people misunderstand that there are computers in there.
I'm pretty pissed at all the info all those companies collect actually. We should own our own data and we should be allowed to charge THEM for it. Why should they all get the benefit of selling our data and we don't? AND we have to pay for them to do it?

@eff @Gizmodo It is such a pain to go back to PIN-based unlocks-- but as noted, it's the only line of defense right now against surveillance and law enforcement overreach.
It's always a shame when we have to deliberately kneecap ourselves because society won't allow us to have nice things.
Here's hoping that one day, precedent will change on this matter.
Our corrupt Supreme Court is NOT going to rule during the current term that presidents have immunity from prosecution for crimes committed while in office. It will send Trump's case back to the lower court in a way that ensures he isn't prosecuted before the election.
After that, who knows?
