@xyhhx modern js is quite like modern c++, in that you can still use the old deprecated stuff if you would like to, it's all still there, but god the new stuff is so much nicer

@xyhhx they could, though at that point you could make the argument "why don't we have a special variant of arrow functions that has arguments or is allowed to be a constructor" and then you end up with fifteen kinds of functions

at least in my head the distinction between "small babie function" and "big grownup function" is easy to keep in mind

@xyhhx arrow functions aren't actually the same as normal functions, they have some features turned off on purpose:https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Functions/Arrow_functions

from what I understand they're basically there to facilitate basic code reuse and thunking, so the fewer complications you have, the more contexts you can use them in. for example, if you define an arrow function within a generator, calling yield in the arrow function will yield from the generator, which could be a thing that you want (and isn't a thing you could do from a normal function defined in a generator)

Arrow function expressions - JavaScript | MDN

An arrow function expression is a compact alternative to a traditional function expression, with some semantic differences and deliberate limitations in usage:

where's my arrow generator javascript

I want to type ()* => {...}

@demize thankfully none will be forthcoming
well, it's good to know the evil purple haired tends in my head doesn't have as much of a backing of the field of economics as previously thought
