@thurrott the definition of a feature nobody asked for designed entirely to meet an OKR
@Techaltar Returnal
@thurrott Did they ever clarify what the improvements are that required a new image?

@Techaltar I am skeptical of BlueSky actually achieving federation and they're currently in the honeymoon period of all upsides with no downsides due to decent funding, but the bill will come due.

That said they've clearly got smart product people and good motivations, so I'm hoping that we see better federation between ActivityPub and ATProto so both networks can coexist and interoperate.

@thurrott I recently built a new PC and put 24H2 on it, and everything about Windows and its ecosystem now just feels so awful. I had to sign in to my keyboard. The OOBE login requirement of Windows itself is infuriating when it doesn't include the drivers for my onboard Ethernet and WiFi.

I switched it to Bazzite, which is a really awesome and polished system with smart ideas. I want Windows to be more like that, but it unfortunately became an ad delivery platform that runs Office.

@ChrisShort They're an incredibly respected news source and if anything are center-left. They've also won multiple Pulitzers.

@briankrebs I've been using Linux on the desktop for about 22 years, but pretty pragmatic about it. I think it's finally ready to be the daily driver for most enthusiasts.

If you are poking around at what's out there, I strongly recommend Fedora Kinoite. It's an immutable system where you can layer stuff on to the system image if desired, but the design is to force all applications into containers. This does wonders for security and reliability, it's like always having a fresh install.

@ChrisShort Why is the Christian Science Monitor on this list?

I had an inkling it might be possible to patch AppKit in Mac OS X 10.0 to re-enable the NEXTSTEP interface style after it was removed during the Developer Previews — and I was right! So here’s the shipping, consumer Mac OS X without Aqua turned on. It’s rather broken and crashy

@ampressman Also importantly it can import your existing evernote notebooks easily
