I love this photo! A picnic somewhere near the Black Sea (Trabzon) at the beginning of the 20th century. My grandmother is front left and her brother front right.
I can't help thinking that how little she knew what was ahead of her in her life - In the following 10-15 years, there would be the Balkan Wars, 1st World War and then the enforced mass exodus from that whole area to what is now recognised as Greece. However, this photo captures a carefree day in the countryside.
