Middle aged Northern UK mono bi bloke.

Cats & computers, running & retro gaming, beer, books & board games, yoga & yogurt, keyboards and kitchen gadgets.

Slowly writing some interactive fiction (text adventures) with a lot of procrastination. Enjoys being distracted.

Say hello to the HIDMan, obtained from PCBWay. Generally pretty painless and it Just Works.

I did have to validate it was soldered correctly so see here what the board should look like!

Note the resistor arrays work the same both ways around, which took me a little looking at datasheets to understand.

ArcaOS seamlessly updated to 5.1. Stick in DVD, boot, select upgrade, and let the system reboot a few times.

It hasn't changed *that* much for an end user view, but UEFI, GPT, and NVMe support are big changes for new installs. #os2

The next step in the evil #twitter master plan - invasion by the Krotons #DoctorWho #PatrickTroughton

Re-organising of game consoles, TV, and games in the lounge has begun!

Pleased the PCW fits well, previously it sat on the edge of the top of the bookshelf, and I had to turn my chair and head to view it.

This is far more conducive for playing old interactive fiction.

Why, yes, I have been tempted by an LGR YouTube video! Thirty quid delivered for a thermal disc labeller that can also work without a computer.

No more permanent markers and suffering my awful hand writing.

Yes! Sorting out my lounge, decided to move my MSX upstairs and connect it to my JVM video monitor.

Need to get another controller adapter though, currently have MSX to PS1 and it's annoying.

Went to Leigh Hackspace (@leigh_hackspace) for a look and created a cyanotype! They're well equipped for electronics and textile tinkering.

I was the chap in the computers t shirt if you were there :)

Fun fact, the Breath of the Wild ending is at least partially rendered in-engine rather than being pre-recorded. Which means you can choose what you wear and equip!

Zelda, this journey has changed us both.

Tonight's task was to look at how to enumerate running VMs in FreeBSD. It doesn't appear to be immediately documented or included in bhyvectl but it's really simple. As with many other Unix objects it's a file, in this case, just a node under /dev/vmm

Possibly in case on, functional for a year or two territory! The Icybox IB 2222SSK SAS drive cage does work but with SSDs even if a height adjuster is used it can be tricky to get a certain insertion first time.

Quadro 2000 on a PCIe extender is held up by the DVI cable!
