Hey Justin, just thought of another idea that would greatly help Mastodon adoption.
Has anyone made a tool to automatically detect all the people you follow on twitter and then automatically follow them for you on other platforms like #mastodon, #trible, #bluesky? The tool could use a #linktree in bios to approve who is who.
Nice. Also, it's insane that the mastodon product doesn't handle this natively. It's one of the things I noticed right away while using Mastodon that made me feel like this product sadly won't ever be mainstream unless they address UI improvements like this. (But I love you Mastodon!)
Oooof. Good context. I'd also love to help, but i have my hands full with a climate startup + freelance.
Batsignal to fellow nerds with an eye for muggle-friendly UI design - we need you! You're our only hope to save the tootweetiverse! 😂
Can't wait to see what bluesky delivers.
@ummjackson
Simple suggestion to make #Mastodon a million times more accessible for non-nerd friends to join.
Instead of talking about servers, website should show "the stream" (federated content view).
Like: https://mastodon.social/public
Let's not require account to see product.
@joinmastodon
Was just ranting this on twitter..
I know the tech is hard, but can we at least build a clear roadmap for this?
Suggestions (maybe naive)
- Auto-join users to default server with temp user.
- At LEAST let them read even if no write allowed.
- LATER push them to convert account to chosen server.
- Also, put all UX under 1 web domain. Proxy behind scenes.
❤️u 🐘, but normies are not going join a social network they can't even see at tootsniff.blarg.
“@joinmastodon, I love you, but... how many years must we wait to adapt your UI for normies? Plz plz plz stop making your first step complicated. Normies need to JUST USE YOUR APP without thinking about servers. Push decentralization 2nd. Plz. This is too important.”
