@VintageProject I left the calculator alone for a while, been busy. It's been very hot here. Had a look at it to find the polarizer had cleanly unstuck itself from the lcd! So now I guess it's polarizer replacement time and also time to find some reflective silver stuff for the backing. First have to see if the lcd still works...

@VintageProject so I finally got some time to do a disassembly on that "burnt screen" calculator. It's a bit hairy. The screen is glued onto a plastic housing. I pried it loose while using a syringe to inject IPA between the screen and housing to loosen the glue. The back silver reflective sticker was "burnt", not sure of the polarizer as yet. The glue from that sticker does not come off with IPA. Back polarizer seems to be the next layer. I'll revert with more if I can make further progress.

Totally not retro, but it's not often that I see glow worms and getting a picture like this is difficult. IRL it looked like 2 SMD leds glowing in the dark!
