@rosanita Microsoft.....they care about nothing but themselves. Of course, this is going to be another Virginia server farm. If you read the Bay Journal you will see all the trouble server farms cause. Virginia isn't taking care of business.
@sarahtaber What is happening all over the US and pretty much for every problem, some states see the light and are raging enthusiastically in the 21st century. And some states wish to revert to the policies and practices of 1776. We're already a nation of haves and have-nots and the divide is getting bigger. Renewable energy is here, I suggest everyone get on board.
@notjustbikes That's how I got back and forth to high school by walking directly on a 55 mph highway. One student died via car collision and the city made no effort to install a sidwalk or even a road shoulder. That was back in 1975 or so. That road is still dangerous. smh

"In These Cities, Car-Free Streets Are Here To Stay

Cars? In this economy? Here’s how four cities took back miles of pavement from cars, making a popular pandemic solution into a permanent fixture.

What happens when you close down a city street to cars? More people do non-driving things, like walking, biking, strolling, skating and frolicking in the space normally reserved for motor vehicles." https://nextcity.org/urbanist-news/in-these-cities-car-free-streets-are-here-to-stay?utm_source=pocket-newtab

The inclusion is appreciated. (They did one for walking too!)

🌧🌡ROADS MAY BE ICY

🚲 If you hit ice while biking:

🧘🏿 Relax. Don't panic. Just coast. Don't pedal, brake, or turn.

🛞 Lower your tire pressure below factory standard.

🪑 Lower your bike seat so it's s easier to put your feet down.

⚙️ Ride in low gear. We want you safe.

@workingwriter I'm in Baltimore. I took my eBike on the Light Rail last week, the drivers were angry. I'm working with the MTA to get the drivers educated and policies changed.
@workingwriter Another way to look at this would be that partnering ebikes with mass transit would allow people to ride the first and last mile to with a bike.

For those of you who think people can drink and drive responsibly....
" More than 55% of people involved in serious or fatal road accidents tested positive for drugs or alcohol, according to a new study.

Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of fatal crashes in the United States. Alcohol and drugs can impair a person’s reaction time, thinking and physical ability to navigate the road." https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/14/health/drug-alcohol-driving/index.html

@BrentToderian Politicians may find it difficult to give their rich constituents tax breaks for an eBike but easier to do it for an eCar. They may feel that people who ride eBikes are less likely to give them campaign contributions and votes, hence, the focus on electric cars. Ebikes will address climate change more than electric vehicles, but politics has never been about what is best and right.
