Professional computer toucher by day, casual computer toucher in the evening.

Strong opinions, loosely held.

@andycarolan I have a soft spot for the old SNES version. 😂
@brad Well I can't come across as too much of a nerd, there aren't any nerds on Mastodon, I'll get kicked off.
@brad Nothing massively exciting; a forstner bit set, some countersink bits, some 600mm parallel clamps and a drill jig.

It's so easy to complain when you get bad service / delivery / etc, I feel it's also important to shout out the opposite.

Today's hat tip is to Axminster Tools. Placed an order for a few bits this evening and not only was the whole ordering/checkout process very simple, I still had the option of free delivery after entering my post code.

Anyone in the north of Scotland knows how rare that is. Highly recommended.

@threedaymonk Hi Pual, I'm sTeve.
@mattstauffer Ah, awesome - a kinda workaround for now at least. I'm going to do some testing - I'm sure we've got at least one M1 Pro kicking about in the workshop…
@mattstauffer The other reports you found, did you notice if it was specific to the M1? The chassis hardware from M1 to M2 was hugely improved (in my opinion), and I've had both, though more recently on M2/3.

I finally retired my 7-year-old iMac and have started using my 4-year-old M1 MacBook Pro as my primary machine.

I have a nice display, so I wanted to use the MacBook in clamshell, but it completely ruins the WiFi reception.

Any solutions? Do I just have to keep the MBP open?

@mattstauffer That's really curious. We've got a lot of clients where we're recommend this solution - clamshell and USB-C large screen - not had any reports at all of issues. I use it flat on my desk at home and vertical in a stand at the office. How odd!
