The inexorably waning half moon hangs in the sky like a cosmic clock ticking down to doomsday. In one week the clock will strike, and in that moment the new moon will blot out the sun.
For science educators & enthusiasts: a poster showing the planets (& more) to scale, each with an interesting fact. See the link for CC license details: print a copy for personal/educational use, but I recommend the linked fabric option!

Today is (was) Kim's and my "half our lives" wedding anniversary: 23 years. And, wow, I still break into a big grin whenever I first see her after being apart for a few days, and my life is so much richer for being interwoven with hers. I love you, Kim!
As a treat (and to use some leftover gruyère), I made a tray of gougères (cheese pastry puffs) to share with the family. I'd intended to take a photo of them when they came out of the oven, but evidently I was too slow.
I love the Rocky Mountains so much. There's a piece of my heart up there. But today I don't get to stay and visit them.
Earlier today, I was told (secondhand) that students in anonymous chat on YikYak seem to have agreed that I wear the best shirts on campus. (This was evidently inspired by wearing my galaxy shirt a couple days ago, but the conversation expanded from there.) Time to get more! 😀🌌
This morning's treat was a Dutch baby pancake, topped with either lemon juice and powdered sugar or a glazed apple topping. So very delicious! (Recipe from the Bread Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum.)
Fortunately, the remaining waffle batter was perfectly fine and ready to top with homemade strawberry sauce and whipped cream. This was soooo good!
Whoops! Turns out I should have used the *largest* bowl when making a double recipe of overnight waffle batter. (Sorry for your sacrifice, excess yeast critters!)
My Dad died this afternoon. His love for me and my sister was a central pillar of all our lives, and while losing him is very hard (there's so much more to I'd hoped to share), he was spared the worst stages of Alzheimer's (that had been close on the horizon).
I love you, Dad.
